Welcome to the garden, where the fruit is plentiful, the sun is shining, and almost everything wants to eat you.

Flies and Hummingbirds from Olioni Games is a fast-paced survival challenge for the Atari 2600 and Atari 2600+. You take control of a tiny fruit fly trying to do what fruit flies do best: find food, stay alive, and avoid becoming somebody else's lunch.

Guide your fruit fly around the garden and collect the bright red fruit to increase your score. It sounds simple, but nature has other plans. Every 10 fruits you collect brings a change in the dangers you face, forcing you to adapt your strategy as you work toward an even higher score.

First comes the hummingbird, swooping rapidly across the garden in search of its next meal. Survive that encounter and you'll eventually face the spider, moving vertically and waiting for the perfect opportunity to catch you. Then comes the fast-moving lizard, an agile hunter that makes open space suddenly feel much less safe.

And sometimes the garden itself tries to kill you.

Rotten fruit falls from the trees, turning an otherwise delicious food source into something capable of squashing one very unfortunate fly.

Each danger behaves differently, so survival means learning its movement and changing the way you play. Dodge vertically to escape the hummingbird, time your movements around the spider, keep away from the lizard, and watch the sky when rotten fruit begins to fall.

Your fruit fly begins with 8 life points, but every collision brings it closer to becoming another small casualty of the food chain. Keep collecting fruit, preserve your remaining life, and see how long you can survive as the challenges continue to cycle.

With simple joystick controls, score-chasing gameplay, multiple enemy types, and an unusual nature-inspired theme, Flies and Hummingbirds combines classic Atari arcade action with a playful look at the struggle for survival happening in our own backyards.
