Climb aboard the LRV, an advanced Lunar Rover Vehicle built to explore some of the most hostile territory in the galaxy. Unfortunately, somebody forgot to mention that nearly everything on the planet would be trying to destroy you.

LRV - Rover Patrol from Olioni Games is a scrolling action game for the Atari 2600 and Atari 2600+ that puts you behind the controls of a heavily armed planetary rover. Race across dangerous alien terrain, leap over craters and enemies, blast threats from the ground and sky, and fight your way from checkpoint to checkpoint.

Your LRV comes prepared for battle with a dual weapon system. Press FIRE and your rover simultaneously launches an aerial missile upward while firing its ground laser forward. You'll need both. Scout UFOs zigzag through the sky, armed craters erupt with volcanic fire, bouncing spheres threaten to crush your rover, abandoned lunar tanks open fire, high-speed Delta Fighters dive toward the surface, and even the local plant life has decided it doesn't like you.

Fortunately, your rover isn't exactly helpless.

Speed across the terrain, slow your advance when you need room to maneuver, and activate your jump thrusters to sail over craters and ground-based dangers. You can even fire while airborne, changing the height of your forward attack and opening up new ways to deal with approaching enemies.

Every three enemies you overcome, whether you destroy them or simply survive the encounter, brings you to a Checkpoint Flag. Reach it and you'll secure your progress through the hostile territory. If your rover is destroyed afterward, you'll restart from your latest checkpoint instead of beginning the entire patrol again.

You begin with four Rovers, and every enemy you destroy is worth 50 points. But chasing a high score is only part of the mission. Three distinct planetary zones stand between you and completing your patrol, with increasingly dangerous encounters waiting along the way.

LRV - Rover Patrol combines continuous scrolling action, jumping, shooting, enemy dodging, checkpoints, multiple weapons, and a whole planet full of things that would very much prefer your rover to be a smoking crater.

Your orders are simple:

Patrol the planet. Secure the checkpoints. Destroy anything that gets in your way. And try to bring the Rover back in one piece.
